How to print a word search
- Choose a theme and a difficulty. The puzzle below is a preview of what will print.
- Turn on Large print if the puzzle is for someone who needs bigger letters.
- Choose how many puzzles to print, keep Answer key on if you want the answers, and press Print.
Each puzzle prints on its own page, with its word list underneath, and the answer keys follow on separate pages so you can hand out the puzzles without them. When you print more than one, each is different: the first is the one on screen, the rest are new puzzles with the same theme and level.
Save as a PDF
In the print window, choose Save as PDF (or “Microsoft Print to PDF” on Windows) instead of a printer. You get a PDF you can keep, email or print later. The pages fit both US Letter and A4 paper.
Large print for seniors and young readers
Large print keeps the grid to at most 12 × 12 and prints the word list in bigger type, so every letter is larger on the page. It suits older adults, people with low vision, and children who are just learning to read. Easy level with large print gives the biggest letters of all.
For classrooms and activities
- Print a set: choose 3 or 5 puzzles for a range of different sheets on the same theme, so neighbours cannot copy.
- For the holidays: choose the Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas theme, or start from the Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas page and press Print with answers.
- Match the level to the group: Easy for early readers, Medium for older children, Hard for teenagers and adults.
- Use your own vocabulary: the word search maker turns a spelling or topic list into a puzzle.
- Save ink: the pages are plain black on white, with light grey marks on the answer keys.
