A CPS test for the right mouse button
On this page only the right button counts. Right-click the pad and the 5 second timer starts, exactly as on the left click CPS test. Left clicks are ignored, so you cannot raise the score by alternating buttons. The browser’s right-click menu is switched off over the pad, so it will not pop up and interrupt the run.
Why right click speed is a separate skill
Most people press the right button with the middle finger, which does far less clicking in daily use than the index finger. It is usually slower and tires sooner, so expect a lower number here than on the left click test. In games the right button often has its own job. In Minecraft it places blocks, which is why fast right-clicking matters for building and bridging.
Reading your right click score
The result is your right click speed in clicks per second, with a bar for each second of the run and the same ranks as the left click test. The most useful comparison is with yourself, and the result does it for you: if you have taken the 5 second left click test on this device, it shows your left click best and what percentage of it your right click reached. Expect the right to come out lower, because the middle finger does so much less clicking; the size of the gap is what tells you how much practice it needs. Watch the per-second bars as well. A right click score that starts high and drops sharply after two or three seconds means the middle finger tires before it runs out of speed, which short practice sets can improve.
Getting faster with the right button
- Check your grip. If the middle finger rests flat on the button, curl it slightly so only the tip presses.
- Keep the index finger relaxed and still. When it tenses in sympathy, both fingers slow down.
- Practise in short sets. The middle finger is not used to this work and strains easily.
- Butterfly clicking works on the right button too, with the middle and ring fingers taking turns.
When the right button itself is the problem
A fast right click test is also a quick check of the switch. If the counter sometimes jumps by two for one press, or a press now and then does not count at all, the button may be wearing out rather than your finger slowing down. The mouse double click test shows whether a single press registers twice, and the mouse test lets you check every button and the wheel one by one.
Trackpads, touchscreens and the Mac
On a trackpad, a two-finger click is a right-click and counts here. On a Mac, holding Control while clicking opens the context menu but is still a left button press, so it does not count: use a two-finger click or a mouse with a right button. A touchscreen has no right button at all, so on a phone or tablet every tap counts and this page behaves like the ordinary test.

How do I compare my right and left click speed?
Take the 5 second left click CPS test, then this one. After each right click run the result shows your left click best from this device and what percentage of it your right click reached. Both scores stay on your device; nothing is uploaded.
